Description
HP/Agilent 6267B DC Power Supply
The 6267B DC Power Supply by HP/Agilent has remote voltage sensing and remote programming features. Since there is an inevitable voltage drop created in the load leads, the regular strapping pattern will not deliver the optimal voltage regulation at the load. In addition, the benefits of remote sensing are only applicable for the constant voltage operation mode. In the constant current mode, the resistance of the load leads does not impact the power supply’s performance. The remote sensing mode entails eliminating the (+S) and (-S) jumpers from the back panel terminals, linking the load leads regularly, and utilizing an individual pair of wires to link the (+S) and (-S) sensing terminals to the load. Furthermore, the remote sensing mode is not suggested while discharging or charging a battery.
Alternately, the remote programming mode on the 6267B allows the user to operate the power supply’s current or voltage via an external resistor or applying an external voltage to the back panel terminals. If the user chooses to utilize resistance programming, then a modifiable resistor can control the output throughout its complete range. It is important to remember that programming terminals A4 and A6 cannot become open-circuited while resistance programming the output current. If the circuits open, the power supply’s output current will increase to an amount that could harm the load or the power supply. In order to prevent this from happening, it is recommended to use a resistor with a value of 1000 ohms for the 6267B DC Power Supply.
