The HP Agilent 6033A Single Output DC Power Supply is an autoranging GPIB model. This power supply can be a listener and talker on the GPIB and can also be programmed in volts and amps. The 6033A’s status can be read via the GPIB. This DC Power Supply can be instructed to appeal service for ten types of conditions. Output voltage, output current, or OVP trip voltage can be measured and the numeral can be put on the GPIB.  New output numbers can be put on hold and triggered in the future, which permits the controller to synchronize numerous power supplies at once. The features that can be controlled through the GPIB include: OVP reset, output voltage setting, output current setting, foldback protection, output voltage and output current measurements, and more.

On the 6033A DC Power Supply, LED indicators show the full functioning condition of the model. Controls on the front panel permit the user to select output voltage, current, and overvoltage protection trip levels. Overvoltage protection (OVP) safeguards the load by swiftly and automatically halting an energy transfer if a preset trip voltage is surpassed. Foldback protection can be chosen to deactivate the output on the power supply if the unit changes from Constant Voltage (CV) to Constant Current (CC) mode or the other way around.

The INH circuit on the HP Agilent 6033A controls the RI bit in the fault registers, while delivering a method to deactivate the power supply remotely. This is essentially a “panic button” and provides the user with a way to bypass the controller and/or GPIB to deactivate the power supply.
