The HP Agilent 6434B is a general purpose DC Power Supply best used for medium to high-power applications necessitating a fixed or variable dc source with modest regulation and ripple. This model is a constant voltage/constant current type and is equally suited in relay rack operations or on the bench. The 6434B has two enormous panel meters, which are great for clear reading for the user and monitoring output voltage current on an ongoing basis.

The voltmeter has a 0 to 50 Volt range, while the ammeter has a 0 to 30 Ampere range. Both meters also have a 2& accuracy at complete scale. The load effect voltage of this model is 40 mV, the load effect current is 200 mA, the temperature coefficient is 0.03% + 5 mV, and the drift is 0.1% + 20 mV. A fan is utilized to blow air from left to right on the HP Agilent 6434B, while facing the front panel. The air blows through a compartment holding the main elements that generate heat.

The output power on the 6434B Power Supply is accessible though a terminal strip located on the back panel. Additionally, the back panel terminal strip allows the power supply to be linked for various operational modes. The operational mode can be chosen by making strapping connections between certain terminals on the terminal strip on the back of the model. The terminal specifications are stenciled in white on the model, adjacent to their corresponding terminals. The user can ground either terminal or choose to operate the 6434B a maximum of 300 Vdc off ground.
