EADS/Talon Instruments BE-64 Bus Emulator/Word Generator

The BE-64 is an advanced Bus Emulator/Word Generator module. It is manufactured by Talon Instruments. The BE-64 is a single slot VXI card. This model is used in digital tests and troubleshooting applications. The BE-64 can be used in two modes: word generator mode and logic recorder mode. As a word generator, the module offers 64 I/O channels. These channels can transmit data at a rate of 25 MHz and they have 32 kb/Ch. The word generator mode also has 32 channels with 64 kb/Ch. These channels have a data rate of 50 MHz. When the BE-64 is used as a logic recorder, it can record 64 channels by 32 K per channel. The BE-64 can record serial data up to 32 Mb. However, the module needs to be used in combination with Talon Instruments’ serial word generator card for this purpose. 

The BE-64 Bus Emulator/Word Generator incorporates bidirectional channels, which means that the channels can be programmed as inputs or outputs. The rise time of the BE-64 is 3 ns. The BE-64 features internal and external clocks. The internal clocks have fixed frequencies of 10 MHz, 20 MHz, and 50 MHz. The external clock’s frequency can be anywhere in the range of 0 to 50 MHz. The minimum pulse width of the external clock is 8 ns.  

The BE-64 Bus Emulator/Word Generator also features a control timing generator. This model has eight control outputs. The resolution of the generator is 20 ns. The BE-64 is programmable into two operating modes: single cycle and continuous cycle mode. The continuous cycle mode is used for troubleshooting the Unit Under Test.
