E4400B by HP Agilent is an RF Signal Generator in the ESG series. E4400B features a Frequency Range of 250 kHz to 1 GHz and a Resolution of 0.01 Hz.

The HP Agilent E4400B Analog RF Signal Generator has a frequency range encompassing from 250 kHz to 1 GHz, a dwell time of 1 ms to 60 s, 2 to 401 points, and a calibration interval of two years. The power requirements for the E4400B are 90 to 254 V; 50, 60, or 400 Hz; 200 W maximum. This model can be configured to assess the performance of a communication system to the standards of most current and future air interface requirements. This RF Signal Generator can be upgraded later if the user’s measurement needs change, which makes it a great choice for wireless communication system assessments.

The E4400B RF Signal Generator comes equipped with features, such as: the capability to be rackmounted, a built-in function generator, step sweep functions, wideband FM, either an electronic or mechanical attenuator, a wide frequency range, and a minimal weight. An option which can be added to the model is a high-performance pulse modulation feature. This option is not available for the digital signal generators in the ESG Series.

The HP Agilent E4400B has a GPIB interface with talk and listen modes and RS-232. The GPIB permits communication with compatible devices from the back panel. SCPI commands can be utilized to program the GPIB. Every function on the front panel can be controlled through the GPIB, minus the power switch and knob. There are also storage registers on the RF Signal Generator, which can save a maximum of 800 storage registers and 10 register patterns (depending on the number and size of the files).
