Keysight E8408A HP Agilent VXI Mainframe

The Keysight E8408A HP Agilent is a 4-slot, C-size VXI Mainframe. The E8408A is small and compact, while the mainframe monitoring increases user competency with measurements. The compact size will help the user save on rack space. This model is an economical choice, particularly because it can be used in conjunction with Agilent’s VXI M-Modules and data acquisition modules. Some of the many applications the Keysight E8408A can be used for are: wastewater treatment/testing, switch box in electronic functional testing, elevator tests, race car tests, energy conservation, crystal oscillator manufacturing, design confirmation with environmental chambers, canning process characterization, battery manufacturing, appliance manufacturing, and cable and wire testing.

The Keysight E8408A has 175 watts of usable power, a two-speed fan to cool the model quietly, and front panel monitor lights which let the user know when the power supply and fan are in operation and that the temperature of the power supply is acceptable. The two fan speeds are Variable and Full Speed. Full Speed mode is suggested for maximum cooling capability, but does create a lot of acoustic noise. Variable Speed mode provides a quieter fan and still cools adequately.

Complete differential distribution of the CLK10 signal is given on the backplane to reduce skew and jitter and give a fresh timing foundation for VXI instruments. The surface mount backplane improves consistency and stripline signal results. The power supply and cooling fan of the Keysight E8408A can be accessed from the model’s back panel. The mainframe does not have to be detached from the rack to exchange the fan and power supply.
