Agilent E8460A Relay Multiplexer

The Agilent E8460A is a 1-slot, Register Based, C-Size Reed Relay Multiplexer with 256 channels. This model is known for its flexible configuration, fast scanning rate, and contact protection based reliable operation. It features three different terminal blocks available as easy-to-use options. This multiplexer offers a quick and reconfigurable high point-count switching topology through reed relay switches. It is an ideal solution for applications where fast scanning rates are required and it also extends the selection of available multiplexers to the system engineer.

The E8460A can be programmed into different individual topologies. Several connections of these topologies are supported. This model can be used for two, three, and four-wire measurement configurations. This multiplexer comes with ± 50 μV typical thermal offset per channel and <3 Ω closed channel resistance with output protection resistor shorted. With a resistive load, the Agilent E8460A offers 5 VA per channel and common output and 60 VA per module. The common multiplexer configurations achievable are One 256 x 1, One 128 x 2 or Four 64 x 1, Two 32 x 4, etc.

The Reed relays incorporated in the Agilent E8460A are designed to open/close in 0.5 ms max. They offer up to 500 M operations at no load and up to 10 M operations at rated load. The Agilent E8460A comes with an analog 1 x 2.5-in. bus cable, which can be used for connecting multiple slot-adjacent modules through analog buses or one slot-adjacent E1411B multimeter module. This model offers 400 pF, 230 pF, and 80pF capacitance in configurations of 256 x 1, 62 x 1, and 16 x 1 respectively.
