    Description

The National Instruments VXIpc-850 Embedded Computer is designed for robust and versatile use in VXIbus systems, featuring a 2-slot, C-size chassis and a high-performance PCI local bus controlled VXIbus interface. Its unique modular construction includes various logic blocks such as a CPU Card, System I/O, ISA Expansion Slot, and PCI Expansion Slot, providing flexibility and scalability.

High-speed data transfers are facilitated by the MITE-based PCI-VXIbus interface circuitry, and the device’s arbitration and trigger management are efficiently handled by the MANTIS ASIC. Connectivity options are broadened with the inclusion of SMB connectors for CLK10 signals and triggers, as well as an ISA-based Ethernet circuitry with a standard RJ-45 connector for integrating into LAN and WAN networks.

The GPIB Logic Block of the VXIpc-850 includes a standard IEEE 488.2 port, enhancing its utility for instrumentation control. The unit is encased in a metal enclosure designed to improve EMC performance, with the added convenience of removable panels for easy access to internal components.

For generating the CLK10 signal, the VXIpc-850 is equipped with dual sources: an internal oscillator and an external CLK SMB connector. The GPIB interface can be programmed to use ISA interrupts 5 or 11, allowing for greater compatibility with a range of systems.

Despite its obsolete status announced by National Instruments, the robust and versatile VXIpc-850 remains available for purchase and repairs through Apex Waves, ensuring long-term support for existing systems.
