Fluke 9170 Field Metrology Well
The Fluke 9170 Metrology Well is created as a steady heat source which can be utilized in a field or laboratory setting. Since this model has an optional built-in reference thermometer input and a calibrated display, the Fluke 9170 can also be used as a reference standard. The temperature range of this model is from –45° C to 140° C. The heating time is 32 minutes to reach 23° C to 140° C and 45 minutes to reach –45° C to 140° C. The well depth is 6.3 inches. The Fluke 9170 is a substantial instrument, with dimensions of 14.4 x 8 x 12.7 inches and a weight of 31.5 pounds.
By using the front panel keys and LCD of the Fluke 9170 Metrology Well, the user can watch the well temperature, watch the heater output power, arrange the communication interface, designate the temperature set-point in Celsius or Fahrenheit, choose the operating conditions, and decide on the cutout set-point.
The Fluke 9170 can also be controlled by other devices via the RS-232 digital interface. The Metrology Well can be linked to a computer or another kind of device, which permits the user to input the set-point temperature and utilize other functions with remote communication. This can be accomplished over quite long distances. The serial communications cable links to the device with the DB-9 connector at the rear of the model. If the user wishes to eradicate noise, the serial cable must be protected with low resistance between the DB-9 connector and the shield.
