Description

Anritsu MW8208A PIM Master

Anritsu developed the MW8208A PIM Master, which is its first generation, high performance, PIM testing solution for Cellular, E-GSM, PCS, and AWS, recurrence bands. Anritsu created the PIM Master to confirm if receiver obstruction at a cell site is due to an intermodulation product of two or more transmit frequencies, otherwise called Passive Intermodulation (PIM).

The MW8208A PIM Master generates two high energy tones in the transmit band of a base station. Anritsu’s family of handheld RF instruments’ PIM analyzer measures the 3rd, 5th, or 7th order intermodulation products in the receiver band coming back down the same cable, then the GPS function will record the area of the estimation. The present standard for PIM testing offers a well-known framework of two elementary carriers and calculated PIM frequency, which is checked through a range analyzer. This gives an estimation of the overall linearity of the antenna framework and the surrounding environment. As more power goes up the antenna lines, a coaxial connection is more likely to cause an issue on a tower. However, traffic through the site plays a big part. For example, a moderately tranquil site will not typically view the same execution issues that an occupied site will view.

The primary reason for the utilization of a PIM test is to achieve the most comprehensive estimation of electrical connection quality that is commercially accessible. A PIM test cannot, however, estimate VSWR. This means that the test set will not perceive an open or short condition, unless the issue displays non-linear behavior. A return loss figure that is falling will not be determined with a PIM test estimation.

The manual for this model is available on the ApexWaves.com website.
