The 8564E is a Portable Spectrum Analyzer designed by Agilent encompasses a frequency range from 30 Hz to 40 GHz, with one coaxial connection. The 8564E has an APC 2.4 mm male RF input connector. The Agilent 8564E has multiple options the user can choose from based on their necessity. Some options may even be added after purchase if measurement needs change in the future. One of these options is Option 1, which provides a second IF output on the rear-panel connector J10. Next, Option 5 gives a 0 V to 10 V sweep ramp with 0 V matching the left part of the display and 10 V matching the right part of the display. Option 6 brings the frequency range down to 30 Hz, whereas the standard lowest frequency is 9 kHz without the option.
There are several detector modes on the 8564E Spectrum Analyzer, such as: Negative Peak, Positive Peak, Sample, and Normal. Negative Peak is mainly utilized for troubleshooting the model and not for performing measurements; it provides a great example of the modulation envelope for an AM modulated signal. Positive Peak aids the user in discovering each quick signal peak. Positive Peak displays a noise floor slightly higher than the real noise floor. Sample mode is suitable for performing noise measurements and is a better indication of noise than regular detection. Normal mode is mainly utilized for normal operation and s ideal for looking at signals and the noise floor simultaneously. This mode spots every signal peak and may show them with a minor change in frequency.
