Description
Item #: 8665B
Manufacturer: Agilent
Series: 86xx
8665B by Agilent is a High-Performance RF Signal Generator in the 86xx series. 8665B features a Frequency Range of 100 kHz to 6.0 GHz and an Output Level of +13 to -139.9 dBm.
The HP Agilent 8665B High-Performance RF Signal Generator is ideal for basic receiver testing as high as 6 GHz. If Option 4 (low-noise enhancement) is added, this model can be utilized for out-of-channel receiver testing or as a clock source where low phase jitter is vital. When applications need low RF leakage, Option 10 can be added for improved RF shielding. The 8665B has a frequency range from 100 kHz to 6.0 GHz. The typical switching speed of this model is <50 ms and the resolution is 0.01 Hz.
Radar testing can be achieved with Option 8 (pulse modulation). When Option 8 is added to the 8655B Signal Generator, there are <5 ns rise/fall times, >80 dB on/off ratio. Option 8 will give the user the high level of performance needed for pulsed applications. The built-in pulse generator has variable pulse delay and a width from 50 ns to 999 ms. This will save the user from having to buy other pieces of equipment. The leveled RF output keeps up the preciseness while in pulse modulation mode.
If a signal generator is going to be used for measuring the adjacent channel selectivity of a receiver, SSB phase noise is imperative. If the phase noise of the signal generator is too high at frequency offsets equivalent to the channel spacing, the test outcome may show an error of the receiver, even when it is working properly. Option 4 is recommended for the Agilent 8655B High-Performance RF Signal Generator when the selectivity is ≥ 90 dB.
