The HP Agilent 30 Watt E3646A is a high-performing, dual output, dual range programmable DC Power Supply. This model has both GPIB and RS-232 interfaces and is suitable for benchtop and system applications because of its multipurpose features. These features include the following: high accuracy and resolution, low ripple and noise, tracking operation, simple controls, remote voltage sensing, error messages on the display screen, astounding load and line regulation, and numerous others.

There are various front panel operations that can be performed. The output, tracking mode, and OVP can all be enabled or disabled. The DC Power Supply can be reset to the power-on state or returned to the local mode from the remote mode. The display mode can be modified. Voltage and current limit values can be selected and shown. The remote interface can be configured. Lastly, the E3646A can be calibrated and the calibration secure code can be altered from the front panel.

The front panel Vacuum-Fluorescent Display (VFD) on the E3646A Power Supply can complete these functions: confirm the functioning status from the annunciators, confirm the kind of error from the error codes, show the limit values of the voltage and current (limit mode), and show the real values of the output voltage and current (meter mode).

This DC Power Supply has front panel binding posts to link load wires for bench procedures. The links to the E3646A’s output and to chassis ground are made to the back output terminals. There is also a cooling fan with automatic speed control for low acoustic noise.
