On the other hand, the offset can be modified to within ±2 V to permit the amplitude and offset margin to be measured. The clock has a variable delay function so that characteristics reliant on time or phase margins of the input clock and information can be measured. The amplitudes and offsets of the eight data outputs that have 1/8 speed of fundamental clock signal can be designated by the user as well.

The Anritsu MP1763B has a 3.5 inch floppy disk drive for saving preset information, which permits the user to complete measurements quickly by pressing a key. There is also a GPIB function for automatic or remote measurements through an external controller. The MP1763B Pulse Pattern Generator has coordinating clock and data outputs. Other features of this Pulse Pattern Generator include high quality waveforms, an 8 Mbit programmable pattern related to six frames of STM-64/STS-192, the capability to produce PRBS patterns with bit spanning from 27–1 to 231–1 bits, and a low FM/PM-noise clock generator.
