HP 86xx Series

The 86xx Series of Signal Generators are ideal for in-channel and/or out-of-channel receiver testing, based on the model. These Signal Generators have low RF leakage levels, low phase noise, an easy-to-use interface, and varying frequency ranges. The 8665B has the highest frequency range, extending to 6 GHz. Some of the models, such as the 8643A, have pulse modulation as a standard feature, whereas models like the 8648B and 8648C have pulse available as an added option. Each model in the 86xx Series has an HP-IB interface. Many of the Signal Generators have options such as a high-stability timebase or a rack kit.
The 8656B Signal Generator is great to use in a bench environment; it possesses quality, performance, and economy. Next, the 8644B, 8664A, and 8665B are the High-Performance RF Signal Generators of the series. These models are suited for component test, avionics, radar/EW testing, and RF communications because of their low phase noise, frequency coverage, and high output levels. The 8648A/B/C/D models are Economy RF Signal Generators, which are more affordable, but still powerful. These Economy Signal Generators have a wide dynamic range, can decide receiver sensitivity quickly, and complete in-channel receiver tests for the following devices: cordless phones, pagers, 900 MHz trunked radios, and low cost two-way radios.
The 8657D/J Signal Generators have an added capability that the others in the series do not: a digital modulation capability for standard FM, pulse modulation, and AM formats. The 8657D model can analyze mobiles for North American Digital Cellular (NADC) and Japanese Digital Cellular (PDC) radio systems.
