The TDS7104 Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope has many options which can be added for even more features. For example, Option SM gives a full portfolio of masks for confirming compliance to serial communications requirements up to 2.5 Gbps rates. This option also adds a complete suite of eye-pattern related measurements. With Option SM, the user can cater mask testing to their own needs. Option SM offers features such as: built-in mask editing, one-button mask autoset, test-related actions (logging, hardcopy, and notification), auto-fit process reduces hits, hit-counting spots the position and degree of errors, and mask margin control changes tolerance during testing. Option SM also has a clock recovery function for serial data streams from 1.5 Mbaud to 2.5 Mbaud.
The Tektronix TDS7104 is equipped with a full parametric measurement system for signal characterization. The user can choose a measurement from a graphical palette. Confirmation tasks are made simpler by the ability to swiftly reassign measurements to another waveform. Features such as split cursors and screen cursors enable the user to easily measure trace-to-trace timing characteristics. Measurement data can be collected for further analysis, then documented or analyzed in a spreadsheet.
